CLINICS
Practice Policy
We recommend that patients have their blood pressure and urine checked every
year. If you have not had this carried out in the recent past, please request
it from the practice nurse. Bring a sample of urine with you.
Baby Clinic
The baby clinics are held each Wednesday from 9.00 to 11.45 am. Child development
checks and immunisations are given and the clinics provide an opportunity to
discuss other problems, eg sleeping, feeding and child health worries with a
doctor or a nurse. The baby clinic is now based at the new Childrens’ Centre
at Castledyke Primary School, Barton upon Humber.
Asthma Clinic/COPD
Clinic appointments are available throughout the week and are run by the Respiratory nurses in conjunction with your GP.
Diabetic Clinic
Diabetic Clinic appointments are available throughout the week and are run by the specialist nurse and her team.
Family Planning
Contraceptive care is provided by all the doctors during surgery hours.
There is also a family planning clinic run by a specialist nurse throughout the week.
Non-NHS Examinations
The doctors are happy to carry out medicals, eg insurance and driving licence.
Telephone the surgery for an appointment. Please ask at reception for the charge
for these services.
Travel Immunisations/Vaccinations
Please make an appointment at least 8 weeks in advance of your holiday to
ensure adequate cover. A charge will be made for certain immunisations and vaccinations
which are not covered by the NHS. A list of these charges, which are payable
in advance, is held at reception.
Flu Vaccination/Pneumovax
An influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients over 65
and those with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes and residents of nursing
and rest homes. Please contact the reception staff in October for details of
the vaccination dates and to make an appointment. If you are unable to attend
the surgery a home visit will be arranged to undertake this facility.
Yellow Fever Vaccinations
Central Surgery is an authorised Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre.
